BIOGRAPHY

Juls Gabs (b. 1989, San Sebastián, Spain) is a Spanish painter working between material and digital realms. Currently based in Boston, MA, her practice redefines contemporary figuration by dissolving the boundaries between classical painting and technological processes. Through layered compositions, invented landscapes, and hybrid surfaces, Gabs explores transformation, memory, and the evolving relationship between nature and human perception.

She is the 2025–2026 Artist-in-Residence at Mount Auburn Cemetery (MA), where she developed Prophecies of the Land, a digital painting and installation project reflecting on cycles of life, death, and regeneration. In 2023, she presented a 13-foot commissioned painting at Kunstenfestival Watou (Belgium), supported by the Government of Poperinge.

Her solo exhibitions include Landscapes of Future Era, Today (HallSpace Gallery, 2024), Blending Boundaries (Rome, 2022), and 404: error (Unit 1 Gallery | Workshop, London, 2020). Her work has been exhibited internationally across the US and Europe, including Silvermine Art Centre (CT), Cambridge Art Association (MA), and the Thyssen Museum (Madrid).

Gabs was a finalist for the Teravarna Landscape Award (2023) and the Mayte Spínola Revelation Artist Prize (2019). In 2019, she was recognized by Arteinformado as one of “12 artists focused on the next generation.” In 2021, her work was acquired for the permanent collection of the Museo de Arte Contemporáneo Mayte Spínola (Spain).

She has completed international residencies including Paradise AIR (Tokyo), Roman Road Gallery’s Columbia Residency (London), and Sommer Atelier Aschersleben (Germany). In 2022, she was commissioned by Aston Martin Aramco Cognizant Formula One Team.
